CONFERENCE ART SHOW IS MONDAY APRIL 18TH! ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY AS PART OF YOUR 4TH QTR GRADE!

DUE Tuesday April 12th--CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: 9 photos (either one)

Color Challenge. This is a fun challenge for an urban environment. Take you camera downtown, and give yourself a few hours to take pictures. Choose a colour (or for added challenge, have a friend pick the colour for you), and shoot only objects of that colour. By the end of the session, you’ll be surprised how that colour jumps out at you! When you’re finished, it’s great to take your best images and assemble them into a collage or mosaic. This is something that can be done in Adobe Photoshop.
A Collection of “Somethings.” Whenever you’re out, carry your camera, and be on the lookout for whatever “something” you choose. It could be feet, garbage cans, vegetables that look like faces, bicycles – you name it! Get creative, and pick a theme that you don’t usually see in pictures.

Due Thursday January 27th

Tuesday January 4th 2011

Please make sure I have your DVD's from your iMovie from 1st Semester for grading Today!

Ok...let's get down to business!
Today you will pick a person to photograph and take at least 20 different photos of that person. Portrait photography is not difficult, but requires attention to some details:
http://www.digital-photography-school.com/portrait-photography-tips
Using the site above, go to the discussion tab and describe what you think are the top ten tips for Portrait Photography. (Due by the end of
class on Wednesday January 5th)
Portraits are dueTuesday January 11th. They may be taken during class or outside of class.
As always, if you need to borrow a camera or need further assistance, please let me know!
If you would like me to set up my "studio" and bring backdrops I can do that...chat with me...
I would like them presented in an iPhoto slideshow with music, please. Thanks!
Don't forget about the Top Ten Steps and the Rule of Thirds from last semester! ; )

When you are not working on your portraits or your 10 portrait tips I would like for you to begin working on a 3D Photo project
similar to what Gabby was working on at the end of last semester. I will show you examples of a few I still have to give you ideas.
Basically, you take a photo of something (or it could be someone/yourself) and print it out several times (this is a matter of preference
and how much depth you want to create in your piece). You then glue it to mat board and use an exacto to cut out the portions you wish
to "build out". What you end up with is basically a relief sculpture of one of your photos. Last year, they were a big hit at the Art Show,
and if you do it well, it'll get a blue ribbon! This project needs to be completed by Monday January 17th.

Okey dokey? Questions? Everyone should be busy...and there should be enough variety here for you...

End of 1st Sememster!

Thursday December 9th

Today we are going to watch a tutorial about GarageBand and begin making the background for our iMovie.

By now, you should have chose 10 photos for you to mimic by your artist and put them into iPhoto in an album so that
they will be easily accessible in your iMovie Final Project this semester.
YOU TUBE tutorial:
How to use GarageBand (Part 1) by Herbert Midgley a Music Technology expert.
You should begin taking your "mimic" photos and work on the biography of your photographer tomorrow and over the weekend.
You will have Tuesday and Wednesday class time and will present it during our Semester Test time, (which I think is Friday).

Friday December 3rd.

You should have chosen your photographer by now. Do not wait to begin this project it will be due the Wed. before finals, so

December 15. (There will be a quiz over the Top 10 Rules on the 15th as well.) Make sure you have 10 photos from the artist
and that you "mimic" those yourself and then include a comparison. It can be a "slide" or a voice over.
We will do a Garage Band lesson on Monday Dec. 6th...Mr. Pedersen may be here, otherwise we will use the training tutorials
from Apple. By the end of next week, you should have things in place to begin "tweaking". Please don't hesitate to ask for help if you
need it, and if you want to borrow either of the classroom cameras you may do so. : )

Monday October 25th

Hopefully, you are enjoying the Photojournal assignments. Glad to see you are keeping up!

The first challenge album was slow in coming, but a success! Keep taking photographs and analyzing them.
It's the best way to improve!
The next challenge album is "Things that move." I have started, and you can too! I'm excited to see what you
come up with. Don't forget to try a lot of different angles/positions to get that perfect photo!
The Photo Cubism assignment is next and is due on Friday November 12th!

Wednesday October 20

Hey...glad we finally got the challenge albums up and critiqued today! Now it's time to move on (no pun intended...to our next challenge.

"Things that move." I better get to work. Try using your stop motion (the little runner guy in your camera's modes) Try moving or panning the camera as you take the picture. Remember to get close, use flash outdoors, etc. (The 10 Steps and Rule of 3rds) and you can edit

and add to the photos to make them better. (I LOVE Photoshop!) Now, with that said I found a site today that might be good to look at,

it's http://pshero.com/ . Lots of effects and inspiration there. Check it out! df

Please do not forget to post daily, your accomplishments!

DUE FRIDAY OCTOBER 15>>>your challenge album on your FACEBOOK site! Remember, photos need

to be taken close to your home using the 10 Steps to Better Photography and the Rule of Thirds! At least 10 photos, more is better!

Try to "copy" some of mine, but use your surroundings. Good LUCK!

Monday October 4, 2010

Please don't forget to login daily and post what you accomplished for me during classtime! Some of you are missing out on 10 pts daily! It adds up...I suggest you just login when you come to class and type it in before the bell rings each day. Thanks!

Maybe, if everyone can work daily, without me having to prompt them, I can "remove" the requirement next semester.

Monday September 27, 2010

Even tho' it's Homecoming week we won't quit working...

Please make sure you have your assignments posted as jpgs. Also...QUALITY photographs are going to get you a better

grade. If you don't currently have CS5 loaded (if you don't please see Mrs. Alesch ASAP), you can edit them some in your
iPhoto. Crop, sharpen, etc. Please use the 10 Steps and Rule of Thirds! Thanks!

The following is a cool site I found that we can actually mimic if you'd like. We have iWeb on our computers...and will
have the capability of publishing soon!
http://www.jdhsphoto.com/

Have a safe and fun Homecoming Week!
Mrs. F

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2010

Please. Login. Go to your page each day, Title the page with the date and type in what you accomplish.

Thanks! Mrs. F

PS. If you are absent you are expected to complete work outside of class explaining what was completed

for the day(s) you are/will be missing.**

So...I would like the "2nd Assignment" done ASAP!

If you have it done already, chose a different assignment, please.

Friday, yes this friday,...BRING YOUR CAMERA! Thanks!

Photocubism is pretty cool. Ask if you'd like to see examples!
Make sure all work is uploaded to your page, please.
Thanks!
Mrs. F

Next Photojournal Assignment is due Friday September 24th.

Next Photojournal assignment is due FRIDAY!

I am hoping to get photoshop really soon...then we will begin a unit on portrait photography!
Friday the 10th PLEASE BRING YOUR CAMERAS! We are going to try a little landscape photography.

August 30, 2010

Hey there! You will need to make sure your 1st Photojournal is posted to your page today!

We will be reading the stories in class! Woot! Mrs. F

Welcome to Photography Class!

A word about grades. I will be posting more about this in the future, but wanted to say something sort of "up front".
I want you to learn. I want you to grow as a photographer/artist. You cannot do that unless you are busy! (obviously)
Your grades will reflect how much you work at that process. It's not just about the product in my class. The fact is I
care a lot about you taking as much knowledge away from my classes as is possible.
Also...if you find something you think is of value and want to share it with us, post it to your page or add a new one!
Thanks! Mrs. F

Well, there should be plenty for you to work on here now! You may work ahead, but upload as you go, I don't want you
to lose anything!

If you need to borrow a camera, ask me. She has 2 this year for check out.

Now, if you need assistance or are unclear/unsure what to do, PLEASE--do not just sit there. I am NOT a mind reader.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. I was once in your shoes!

Let's talk about archiving...
I think it would be a good thing for you to have a place where you good photos are stored.
Check out the UsefulnHelpful Photography Sites. Good stuff!
